Search engine optimization is not a couple of methods used to optimize your website for the search engines. It’s a online  marketing art and not everyone can do it right. Even though you will find thousands of articles and blog posts online about the “magic trick” with SEO, it’s really not as easy as it sounds, and many factors when not dealt with accordingly on your website, can cost you dearly by not being indexed by Google. One method of SEO that you should never do is “keyword stuffing” as the search engines will pick this up and de-index the page it is found on.

What exactly is keyword stuffing? It’s an old “Black Hat SEO” method of spamming and tricking the search engines by stuffing your website and pages full of keywords in the hopes of obtaining higher rankings. Typically, you will see websites practicing keyword stuffing using very long lists of keywords in their content and the meta tags. This method adds no value to the reader and in my opinion, is quite pointless because it won’t result in an action.

To create a good optimized website for the search engines to crawl on a regular basis, find below a couple of tips to achieve this.

Website optimization tips

Keywords: Find the most relevant keywords and phrases that your target audience is using to search for any services or products that you offer.

Unique content: Use your keywords in your content and don’t overdo it. Keep it natural. Use your keywords in the content, heading tags, titles, and bulleted lists.

Fresh content: Google indexes content and when you publish new unique content on a regular basis, they will visit and crawl your website often.

Keep it relevant: People will link to information that they find valuable. When you are optimizing your website, think of your visitors first and then the search engines. At the end of the day, only your visitors can complete an action on your website, not the search engines.
